This time of year, we are surrounded by signs of time passing and the end of this academic year coming to a close. One of the silver linings of COVID-19’s effect on school is that staff had to deeply examine what we do, and why we do it. This examination typically happens during the accreditation cycle, but COVID-19 provided the opportunity to not only exam what we do, but also reinvent our practices in new ways.
After two years without an eighth grade graduation, we are excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the ending of an era with our students and their parents. This year, we are starting what we hope becomes a new tradition – culminating the Graduation Getaway with a Sending Ceremony.
The Sending Ceremony will be an informal prayer service that allows us to come together in prayer and thanksgiving during our final time together. The Sending Ceremony is an intimate celebration with the 8th grade students, parents, VCMS staff, and the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. The Graduation Getaway is a very special time for students, and it will be a gift to return to campus and celebrate this special event with their families
Congratulations to the VCMS class of 2022 and all the students who are now embarking on the next chapter in their life. We wish you all a safe, restful, and blessed summer break!
