Student Created Admission Video
VCMS had plans to invite the 2022-2023 applicants to an introductory event on campus, but the increased concern about the rise in COVID-19 cases led us to postpone that event until the spring.
To help applicants and their parents get a sense of the middle school facilities and program, the seventh grade STEM class created a virtual tour of our campus. We were excited to see the final project and want to share their work with you. Check out their Admission Video.
Future City
On Saturday, Jan. 22, four teams from Valley Catholic Middle School competed in the regional Future City competition via Zoom. Future City is a project-based learning program and competition that encourages middle school students to develop their interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In this year’s competition, students worked in teams to research, design and build cities that address a waste free future – including incorporating the three principles of a circular economy to design a futuristic, waste free city.
Three Valley Catholic teams earned special awards that include: Best Land Surveying Process (Team Gronurbyur), Most Entertaining Virtual City Presentation (Team Gronurbyur), and Best City Essay (Team Salix). Additionally,Valley Catholic’s Land Of Tomorrow team won the regional finals and will represent our region in the national competition!
The National Future City Competition occurs over the course of three days via Zoom. Preliminary judging is on Saturday, Feb. 5, special award judging is on Sat. Feb. 12, and the final award ceremony will be on Wednesday, March 23.
We wish Land of Tomorrow the very best at Nationals!
We are proud of our students (and staff) and are grateful so many of the seventh grade students had an opportunity to shine this month.
