Dear VCMS Families,
Two songs are often playing in my mind this time of year. The first is from my childhood, and was played every Advent during my 30+ years teaching in Catholic schools: “Light the Advent Candle.” The second was an Advent song that a faculty member shared during morning prayer five years ago, “Come to Us” by Steve Angrisano. I find Mr. Angrisano’s simple round is a perfect background for meditating on the Advent journey. I hope these songs bring warm memories or a moment of peace for you as we all try to balance the variety of events that occur this time of year.
During the Advent season, our students and staff join together for two campus-wide masses. Earlier this week we celebrated the Immaculate Conception, and next Friday we will celebrate a Christmas mass as a community before dismissing for Christmas vacation. We also celebrate the season with our students’ musical talents, with a band concert and dance performance on Dec. 7, the orchestra concert on Dec. 8, and the choir concert on Dec. 14.
On behalf of our entire VCSM staff, know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and we wish all of you a Blessed Christmas season.
Dr. Jennifer Gfroerer
