A Letter from the VCHS Principal – October 2022

Well, here we are, a full month into the school year! The fall season is upon us with cooler nights and mornings but still we can experience the glorious sun-filled days we so enjoy. I always feel like fall is nature’s grand finale- the stark colors, the beauty of the changing leaves, and the crisp air. As a long-time educator, I also associate fall with many school activities such as Back to School Night, Friday night football games, fall play practice, National Hispanic Heritage Month, and of course, the Feast of All Saints, preceded by Halloween.

The faculty and staff of Valley Catholic High School were grateful for the strong parent turn out at Back to School Night. After almost three years of virtual events, it was wonderful to be in person to showcase curriculum and classrooms.

Speaking of showing off our school, Valley Catholic High School held the first Open House for all Catholic High Schools this past Sunday. Our contagious school spirit was on full display and our prospective students were treated to an afternoon of everything VCHS has to offer. It was a special day welcoming over 250 middle school students to our campus!

Just over a week ago, the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Foundation graciously hosted a dedication ceremony for our newly renovated Clark Family Library. Students and staff have embraced the modern space and actively use it on a daily basis.  Thank you to all our donors, especially the Clark family, for investing in our students and their learning.

Our fundraising efforts for the Children’s Cancer Association were an incredible success. Students and staff worked together to support the local chapter of CCA through our school carnival, the Walk for Joy, “Dollars for Dutch”, and money drives at various sporting events. Their dedication and compassion for such an important cause will be felt by many local children who will get to experience joy during such a difficult time in their lives. Way to go, Valiants!

Fall is here, and we are embracing its beauty – both in nature and in the halls of Valley Catholic High School!
