A Letter from the VCHS Principal – March 2021

Grace for the Taking

Many of you know that my son, Matthew, goes to Gonzaga. As a result, we get the Gonzaga Magazine. The Spring 2021 edition, which recently arrived, has a great letter in it from the Editor, Kate Vanskike, titled “Grace for the Taking.”

In the letter she recounts some challenging times and how the words of the old hymn “He Giveth More Grace” sustained her.
As we continue to navigate through these times, the words of the hymn seem especially fitting. I hope you find them comforting, especially when you start to feel like you are reaching the end of your line.

“He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase.
To added afflictions, He added His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed, ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.”

Valiantly,
Doug Ierardi, Principal
