A Letter from the VCES Principal – March 2021

Dear VCES Families,

This past month has been one of the most fulfilling for the staff at Valley Catholic Elementary School. Students began coming to school in a hybrid model in late January, and are now at school every day. Seeing their faces, talking with them in person, and watching them interact with their peers has been incredible. We have all realized what a true gift education is, and to never take those little moments for granted.

Although we have many students back on campus, we still have some students working from home. I commend all of the teachers who have pivoted at a moment’s notice to teach in person, digitally, or both at the same time, to ensure that our students and families are safe and getting the best possible education. As we near the start of the fourth quarter, we are working with all of our families again to evaluate what learning plan is best for their child, and to accommodate as best as we can. For some families, this may mean that their child returns to campus, and for others it may mean that they complete this school year online. No matter the situation, we are extremely thankful for the community support and resources that allow us to meet a variety of needs.

A huge part of the support our schools have received comes from the Sisters on our campus. March is a time when we celebrate the Sisters’ heritage and all the incredible things they have done for our community. I can’t help but think of how much more dire this year would have been without them. Even though things have looked different this year, we have been able to celebrate God and life, strive for excellence, live valiantly, and honor the unique gifts of others – all because of their example. We are blessed to join with the Sisters in living out this mission with our students.

Blessings,
Melissa Doxtator
