Dear Valley Catholic Early Learning Families,
February was a busy month at VCELS! We celebrated Catholic Schools Week with lots of fun activities and visits from the Sisters! We also had a presentation from SCRAP PDX and got to make very cool craft projects using recycled materials. We celebrated Valentine’s Day in our classrooms by wearing Valentine colors, handing out Valentines to our friends, and enjoying special treats!
We were excited to attend Ash Wednesday Mass with the entire PK-12 campus and many of the Sisters. It was a special morning for our preschoolers!
Our teachers have been busy teaching our littlest Valiants all about the Lenten Season. We will continue to have conversations with the children about ways we can prepare our hearts for Easter by performing acts of kindness. We encourage each family to take time daily to reflect on something you can do together, whether it is an act of kindness or time spent in prayer.
Recently, we celebrated Dr. Seuss by reading books, making hats, wearing silly socks, creating artwork, and having a parade! Later in the month we will focus on the arrival of Spring and talk about nature’s new growth in plants and flowers.
Finally, all month long, we celebrate the SSMO Heritage Month – a time to learn more about the Sisters and all they have done and continue to do to support and guide our school.
May our Lord continue to bless you and your family during the Lenten season.
In Christ,
Amber Ploussard
