A Letter from the VCELS Principal – February 2023

Dear Valley Catholic Families,

As we begin the month of February, I would like to share some of the exciting things that are taking place at Valley Catholic Early Learning School. The first week of February we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with daily themes. Our preschool children honored the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon by making special gifts as a thank you for all they do for us. We also recognized our campus leaders and our nation by wearing red, white and blue. The week ended by celebrating our fabulous faculty and staff.

Later this month, we will have a visit from SCRAP PDX who will teach our students about recycling and reusing materials. Our students will also create fun Valentine’s Day crafts!

During the upcoming weeks, our teachers will continue to prepare age-appropriate lessons for our children. The focus remains on encouraging our infants and toddlers to learn and grow through exploration and sensorial activities. Our preschool children continue to use the Creative Curriculum as they focus on mastery of letters, numbers, and shapes as well as the Second Step curriculum to work on social skills.

Our teachers continue to find fun ways for our littlest Valiants to work on fine and gross motor skills, even in the cold weather!

On behalf of the Early Learning staff, we wish you a wonderful February. We pray that God continues to bless us all with His love, grace, and good health.

In Christ,

Amber Ploussard
