Dear Music School Families,
Several music school students provided music at the 2022 VCS Gala, Saturday, Oct. 29. These students were excited to share their music during the Silent Auction portion of the event.
November recitals will be held in the high school auditorium on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19. These students are excited to be back on a stage to present and perform their recital pieces for you. More details will follow from your instructor. We look forward to seeing you there!
The VCS flute choir, The Flutissimos!, will perform at the Grotto’s Festival of Lights on Friday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. We will perform a collection of Christmas music in the Chapel. This is a wonderful opportunity to support the Flute Choir while visiting The Grotto to hear the beautiful music. This will surely put you in the spirit of the season.
INSTRUCTOR OF THE MONTH
ALBERT PALMETER
PIANO, THEORY & COMPOSITION
Albert Palmeter has taught piano, and theory and composition for more 40 years. During high school he performed a concerto in the Mozart Marathon in Los Angeles. He earned his bachelor’s degree in piano performance at UCLA, where he won first prize in two piano competitions. He was a pianist and keyboardist for the Tempe Symphony Orchestra from 2004 to 2012. Mr. Palmeter’s passion for teaching extends equally to students of all ages and levels of ability, from beginners to concert performers. He begins each area of study – note reading, practicing strategies, ear training, technique, interpretation/expression, theory and composition – by showing his students its essence, so they do not get lost in the details. Teaching his students how to be creative and strategic problem solvers gives them power over their results and makes learning fun.
